On the Road with
News from the Tour de Georgia. We sent our staffers to north Georgia to enjoy the race first hand. The AsMaster crew spent 6 days in the Georgia mountains, hangin’ with the teams, passing out samples to the fans and getting some rides in as well. If you get a chance to visit the area check out the 2006 Olympic mountain bike course in Conyers, just outside Atlanta.
Once you’ve warmed up there head to the mountains. While the teams were riding stage 4 from Dalton to Dahlonega, Team AsMaster got a chance to get some great off road miles in on Bull and Jake Mountains and make it back into town in time to watch the finish. If you get tired of the dirt and want a real challenge try the Brasstown Bald climb. 3 miles uphill on the steepest grade in the state. Stage 5 culminated in this epic climb after the pelaton hammered through over 90 miles of tortuous North Georgia countryside.
It was thrilling to watch the riders climb the final 100 meters. Discovery Teams’s Tom Danielson won the stage just seconds ahead of Phonak’s Floyd Landis. However Landis was able to hold onto the Yellow jersey for the day and maintained a slim 4 second lead till the end of the Tour. More news & photos...
