Sport Masters co-founder Conrad Cancelmi in the pits with Discovery Teams’ Johann Bruneel |
|
We sent our staffers to north Georgia to enjoy the race first hand. The AsMaster crew spent 6 days in the Georgia mountains, hangin’ with the teams, passing out samples to the fans and getting some rides in as well. If you get a chance to visit the area check out the 2006 Olympic mountain bike course in Conyers, just outside Atlanta. |

Tom Danielson after winning Stage Five |
|
It was thrilling to watch the riders climb the final 100 meters. Discovery Teams’s Tom Danielson won the stage just seconds ahead of Phonak’s Floyd Landis. However Landis was able to hold onto the Yellow jersey for the day and maintained a slim 4 second lead till the end of the Tour.
A notable face in the crowd was the legendary three time Tour de France champion, Greg Lemond -- on hand to congratulate the winners. Great to see you Greg! And just because the Tour is over doesn’t mean your fun in Georgia has to stop. If your looking for a challenge try the 6 or 12 hour race at Fort Yargo. Check it out at www.dirtyspokes.com.
